Filled to the Brim

The wedding host faced an embarrassing crisis: The wine ran out. The moment symbolizes the emptiness we all face when human joy, effort, or resources fall short. The first step toward fullness is recognizing our emptiness and inviting Jesus into our lack.

Jesus gives the servants a simple command, “Fill the jars with water,” and they fill them to the brim. Through this ordinary command, ordinary act, Jesus turns ordinary into the extraordinary. When we give ourselves to Jesus, Jesus fills us beyond expectation.

•

Jesus doesn’t just provide wine; Jesus provides the finest wine. Jesus doesn’t just restore; Jesus transforms emptiness into overflowing joy and abundance.

Now Is the Time

Delay is not denial. When Jesus replies to his mother, Mary, “My hour has not come,” it signifies that divine timing and human timing are not the same thing. Yet, even in waiting, God is working.

Now is the time to trust that God knows the right season to act in the world and in our lives.

•

Now is the time to step out in faith, even when we don’t understand. Turning our waiting into worship.

•

Now is the time to experience Jesus’ transformation, to let Jesus turn our emptiness into abundance.

There's More ...

Just when the party was about to fall apart, Jesus shows up. When our resources run out, God’s providence begins. What looks like an ending sometimes ends up being the pretext to God’s next miracle.

With Jesus, there’s always more. When we give God our heart, it opens the door to overflow. And God doesn’t just replace what was lost; God surpasses it!

•

The miracle at Cana reminds us, “In Christ, there’s always more grace, more joy, more to come.”
