Graphics Options

The Narrative Alive graphics are designed with careful thought about how they relate to the text. We've provided possible sermon themes for each graphic to help you choose the direction that best fits your sermon.
From Darkness to Light
Option A
From Darkness to Light
Sermon themes:
Love goes looking and seeking, even in the dark. True love keeps seeking, even when understanding hasn’t fully arrived.
Mary Magdalene comes to the tomb while it is still dark expecting death; instead, she encounters light and life everlasting.
The resurrection turns our deepest sorrow into bold testimony.
Love goes looking and seeking, even in the dark. True love keeps seeking, even when understanding hasn’t fully arrived.
Graphic description:
The graphic suggests the remaining darkness when Mary Magdalene first approached the tomb, early in the day. The radiant sun beams convey the light, the love that the grave couldn't contain.
Who Are You Looking For?
Option B
Who Are You Looking For?
Sermon themes:
The resurrection doesn’t begin with a crowd; it begins with a woman weeping by a tomb.
Jesus meets Mary Magdalene, calls her by name, and sends her out with hope for the world.
Seeing is not the same as believing. Information alone does not equal transformation.
Resurrection doesn’t always appear how we expect. Jesus is near even when our vision is blurred and we think he’s absent.

The light and color in the graphic, emerging out of a dark background, suggest the presence of the angels who spoke with Mary Magdalene, asking who she was looking for.
Called by NAme
Option C
Called by Name
Sermon themes:
Jesus calls Mary Magdalene by name, and it changes everything.
We are called by name, not to cling to Jesus but to be commissioned to carry his message.
The risen Christ knows us by name. Resurrection faith is born in relationship.
Jesus reveals himself personally, not generically. What Mary wants is not answers, but Jesus.
Graphic description:
The figure in the graphic is intentionally ambiguous. While it could represent Mary Magdalene, it also represents each of us, whom God calls by name.
