The Narrative Alive graphics are designed with careful thought about how they relate to the text. We've provided possible sermon themes for each graphic to help you choose the direction that best fits your sermon.
Option A
I Am the Light of the World
Sermon themes:
•
Jesus reveals God’s purpose in our pain. Jesus enters our darkness and transforms suffering into an opportunity for God’s glory to shine.
•
Jesus takes initiative in this healing story. He sees the man, heals him, and reveals himself as the Son of Man. The man responds by acknowledging and worshipping Jesus.
•
When we encounter the Light of the World, we move from questioning to clarity. We move from darkness to devotion. We move from old to new.
Graphic description:
This graphic shows light over the land, in the forest, over the water, and over the mountains. In other words, light for the whole world!
Option B
More Than Just Healing
Sermon themes:
•
Healing is not just about fixing a physical ailment. It is about revealing God’s presence and purposes. When we encounter the awesome power of Jesus, he gives us a new vision to see God at work.
•
The man’s healing leads to reconnection and restoration with the greater community. Jesus brings transformation, not just healing.
•
Jesus’ work is to restore our relationship with God, with self, with Creation, and with neighbor. The story ends not just with eyesight restored but with a spirit awakened.

Option C
Spiritual Blindness
Sermon themes:
•
The religious leaders witness the miracle but refuse to believe. They cling to tradition, ego, and pride. Jesus exposes that our deepest problem is not physical blindness; it is spiritual blindness.
•
The Light of Christ exposes hypocrisy. It challenges comfort. And it invites repentance and true sight.
•
A man who was once in the dark now sees. But this is more than just restoring a man’s eyesight. This is a spiritual healing. This man recognizes and professes Jesus as the true Light of the World.
