Three times in the Book of Isaiah, the prophet speaks of a child who will signify a new era of redemption and restoration.
God’s people are described as walking in the darkness; however, God is anointing a new King to bring about God’s salvific work.
The prophet Isaiah foreshadows the coming of the Christ-child here and speaks into existence a new reign and new king that will defeat death and vanquish the darkness.

Hope for a New Day
Sermon themes:
Prophet Isaiah speaks of a new day on the horizon where the weak, defeated, and humiliated will experience strength and joy.
In this life we will experience instability and suffering; however, that is never the end of our story. Isaiah speaks to a future where those experiencing depths of despair will have fulfilling, thriving life.
Our call is to bear this fruit and hope faithfully. As God’s people, we are called and sent to bring this vision and new day to realization.

The graphic shows clouds with rays of light breaking through. The tree stands tall, portraying life that emerges strong when light brings it out of darkness.
From Darkness to Light
Option C
From Darkness to Light
Sermon themes:
“Sankofa” is an African word that signifies the importance of learning from the past to build a better future. This is what the prophet Isaiah is doing.
Isaiah draws upon the past stories of God and God’s people to provide hope that God will again deliver God’s people from this present misery.
Hope will be restored. The light will dawn and shine brightly when the excluded experience justice.

The background wave forms in the graphic suggest that moving from Darkness to Light is not a straightforward journey; there are many ripples and changes along the way. But the promise of Light always beckons us forward.
