Graphics Options
The Narrative Alive graphics are designed with careful thought about how they relate to the text. We've provided possible sermon themes for each graphic to help you choose the direction that best fits your sermon.
Option A
Creating a New Way Forward
Sermon themes:
•
Despite reservations from God, God gives the people what they want: a king.
•
Through David, God will cleanse, restore joy, and put a new spirit in God’s people.
•
Only God can fix a broken kin-dom, and only God can create a clean heart.
Graphic description:
The contrasting tunnels in the graphic, one leading to darkness and one opening to light, portray the change in future for God's people.
Option B
Unlikely Choice in Untidy Times
Sermon themes:
•
It was a dangerous time and Samuel an unlikely messenger. Yet God, then and now, continually calls us forward to things we may not yet comprehend.
•
God is a giver of second chances. The people want a king, and this time God chooses one the world does not.
•
Coming in from the fields, did David have any idea of the significance of this day? God’s choices can be surprising!

Option C
Outer Appearance vs. Inner Heart
Sermon themes:
•
The prophet doesn’t see. The father doesn’t see. How do we see as God sees?
•
God chooses the runt, an afterthought, a shepherd boy to cleanse and lead God’s people.
•
God cares not for the worldly order or worldly thinking; instead, God focuses on the heart.
Graphic description:
