Graphics Options
The Narrative Alive graphics are designed with careful thought about how they relate to the text. We've provided possible sermon themes for each graphic to help you choose the direction that best fits your sermon.
Option A
Who Will Fix This Mess?
Sermon themes:
•
Amidst the chaos, God doesn’t redo creation. Once again, God chooses to work in and through human relationship and calls Samuel to lead.
•
This is a pivotal point in Israel’s history: Wilderness wandering is over and the time for unified community is NOW.
•
There is no one but us. Like Samuel, we are called to help others encounter God.

This graphic is intentionally messy! What better way to depict the chaos of this time for God's people. And set the stage for the "who" God chooses.
Option B
The Voice in the Night
Sermon themes:
•
We all want the burning bush encounter, but sometimes it is the whispering voice in the darkness that changes us.
•
How easily we miss God’s presence and God’s call because we are looking in the wrong places.
•
God inaugurates Samuel to prophetic ministry; God is still calling. Are we answering the call?

WHAT? God Does the Unexpected, Again
Sermon themes:
•
God’s choice may never be what we’d expect. Samuel is the unexpected outsider that God chooses to achieve God’s purposes.

God uses the wisdom and mentorship of Eli to help Samuel step into the new future.
•
God’s promise and future will not be denied.
